Artificer Island
Artificer Island is a huge mass of interlocking basalt columns rising up from the untold depths of the Lake of Endless Depth. These hexagonal shaped columns rise up to several hundred feet above the water level at their highest and form two massive tiers of rock, one smaller one atop another larger one, upon which the Artificer city of Hightower is built. The only access to the upper tier from the lower is a long, narrow stair of basalt columns which makes approach en masse difficult if not impossible.
Lake of Endless Depth
The lake is a true mystery of nature. Vaguely cog-like in shape, it almost hints at an artificial origin; however, the lake itself would defy mortal construction. Its depth is unknowable, the waters of the lake just swallowing anything that enter its gentle waves. Likewise it is also uncrossable by boat or ship as even feathers appear to be denser than the water, sinking straight to the bottom with no delay. The only way to cross the lake to Artificer Island in by a series of narrow rock bridges. These bridges, like Artificer Island are comprised of basalt pillars rising up from the lake's bottom. The lake empties into the Darkwater River on its southern shore which flows through the Plains of Fire Salts to the South Tuathan Sea.
Plains of Fire Salts
This is a grassland region which contains deposits of Fire Salts, a crystalline rock which bursts into flame when struck.
