Isle of Sky
The Isle of Sky is a massive mesa just off of the northwest edge of the Continental Core. Its top is at an elevation of 1,780ft. and its base sits within the waters of the Achill Straits. The only land-based access to the Isle of Sky is an ancient sky bridge that crosses the Bay of Clouds from the Land’s Edge cliff line. Both the Bay of Clouds, which lies between the Isle and Land’s Edge, and the Sky Sea
which surrounds the Isle of Sky on its other three sides are
semi-permanent cloud formations that end just beneath the surface of the
mesa-top. This has resulted in a few beautiful but very treacherous
cloud beaches where visitors may wade out into the clouds. However, if a
beach go-er were to wade out too far they would walk right off the edge
of the mesa.
Boiler Town
Nestled between two cliff faces on the Isle of Sky, the home of the Wayfarers’ Guild is built in and upon layer after layer of massive scaffolding. Zeppelin docks can be seen in numerous places on every level.
Bay of Clouds
A semi-permanent cloud formation that lies between the Isle of Sky and Land’s Edge.
The winds are gentle and the clouds are always thick and lay in heavy
blankets across the sky in this area. The sky bridge passes only a dozen
or so feet above the tops of the clouds which happily conceal the
1,700ft drop to the sea below.
Sea of Sky
The Sky Sea is a semi-permanent cloud formation like the Bay of Clouds. The Sea; however, unlike the Bay is a riling, turbulent windstorm which surrounds the Isle of Sky on three sides and proves too dangerous for all but the Wayfarers’
best pilots to traverse. Even above the cloud level the winds are
treacherous at best, this provides both protection and great risk for
the guild as it cuts down safe travel routes primarily to those that
cross the Bay.
